Great Family Disaster Plan Websites

Remember the key to any family disaster plan is to discuss the plan with your family. You should discuss all types of disasters but especially the ones that are more common in your area. The disaster plan template that my family actually uses is from the county of San Diego  http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/oes/docs/FamilyDisasterPlan.pdf

Some other great websites with disaster plans are as follows:

Those that fail to plan, plan to fail. Failure is not an option!

Welcome!

"I have so much information where do I begin" was my first thought when I decided to start this blog. Then I realized that the first thought everyone has is "Where do I begin?" There is so much information on the Internet, in books, in magazines, on TV and the radio that it is so easy to become overloaded and overwhelmed! I believe the #1 step is a PLAN! That's right a plan! You need to have a disaster plan. I really like the quote "If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail". Let's face it when it comes to a disaster failure is not an option. Having a plan helps everyone to stay calm and not panic, it also lessens fears especially in children. There are so many great websites that have disaster plans available. Remember to assess your family's needs when writing your plan such as pets, medical conditions that require medications or assistance etc. You need to make this plan as a family. It doesn't help if no one knows the plan. Sit down with your children, grandchildren, etc whoever is in your household and make a PLAN!
